Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, expressed shock upon hearing news related to the emergency martial law in Korea.
On the 3rd (local time), Musk posted two exclamation marks in surprise on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) when a user shared the news that "South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared emergency martial law."
In response to another user's comment asking, "What is happening in Korea right now?" Musk replied, "Yeah, this is shocking."
Later, when a post appeared on X stating that the Korean National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law with unanimous approval from all 190 members present, Musk commented "Wow" on the photo post of the National Assembly, showing excitement.
The series of comments Musk made that day were retweeted hundreds of times, and many X users expressed curiosity about the background and subsequent developments of the emergency martial law situation in Korea. However, Musk did not express any other specific opinions regarding the matter.
Earlier, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared the lifting of martial law in the early hours of the 4th. This was about six hours after he had declared martial law the previous afternoon and about three and a half hours after the National Assembly passed the resolution demanding its lifting.
The White House in the United States, which had expressed concern over not being notified in advance about the martial law news, stated upon the lifting of martial law, "We are relieved that President Yoon Suk-yeol respected the vote of the Korean National Assembly to reverse the concerning declaration of martial law and lift it."
