‘Sang·Sang·Sang’… Dongmyeong University Hair Design Department Sweeps Busan Mayor’s Cup Hairdressing Skills Competition

Gold, Silver, Bronze, and National Assembly Member Awards at US Art Festival

Students from the Hair Design Department at Dongmyung University swept the awards at the hairdressing competition hosted by Busan City.

Dongmyung University announced on the 29th that students Oh Seolhwa and Jung Jini received the grand prize, the Busan Mayor's Award, at the recent Busan City-hosted Mi (Beauty) Art Festival.

The department won gold, silver, and bronze medals in the Busan Mayor's Cup Hairdressing Skills Competition, securing the grand prize in both the hair cutting and upstyle categories.

Additionally, students Choi Hwanyo (23), Shin Hyunkyung (22), and Kim Hyejin (23) received commendations from members of the National Assembly.

Kim Seoin, head of the Hair Design Department at Dongmyung University, said, “At the recent Tokyo Sassoon Hair Contest, student Do Hyeonjeong became the first Korean university student in 25 years to win a main prize, and we are pleased to have also won the grand prize in both the cutting and upstyle categories at this Mi Art Festival.”

Kim added, “As the only university in the country to have signed a scholarship agreement with the London Sassoon Academy and share educational programs, we will strive to establish ourselves as the top hair design department in Korea, nurturing global talent.”

The event was a citizen festival held from October 29 to 30 to discover beauty talents in Busan and strengthen the competitiveness of the beauty industry.
