Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will implement comprehensive welfare measures to prepare for the cold wave by distributing cold-weather supplies to care workers and delivering warm lunchboxes in insulated bags to care SOS meal recipients.

Through this, the district plans to resolve difficulties in care activities caused by the winter cold, create a safe care environment, and strengthen Songpa-gu's care capabilities.

First, from November 27 to 29, the district will distribute 1,584 hot packs and 220 earmuffs to 22 care SOS service providers.

This support is expected to be a great help to care workers affected by cold weather, such as those providing the ‘Companion Support’ service who accompany elderly individuals with mobility difficulties to hospitals and push wheelchairs.

Additionally, the district will provide 120 reusable insulated lunch bags to two care SOS ‘Meal Delivery’ service providers. By delivering warm lunchboxes that remain hot until they reach the care recipients’ homes, the district plans to offer a service that practically supports the healthy lives of residents from meal preparation to delivery.

Furthermore, to prepare for winter safety accidents, the district will guide care workers to comply with safety rules during their duties. It will regularly disseminate cold wave action guidelines to support the health and safe care activities of care workers even during the winter season.

Also, if a risk situation is detected during care activities, an emergency contact system has been established by notifying the civil-government governance communication channel to immediately report to the district office (community service center) and 119, thereby creating an emergency system to prevent safety accidents.

Meanwhile, the district is promoting the care SOS project, including temporary home care, companion support, housing convenience, and meal delivery, reflecting the basic philosophy of the 8th elected administration that ‘consideration for socially vulnerable groups’ is the top priority of administration. In 2024, a total of 4,397 care services such as temporary home care and meal delivery were provided to 1,565 individuals experiencing care gaps within the district.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Care SOS plays a central role in protecting care crisis households from cold wave damage and accidents,” and added, “We will continue to carefully observe the difficulties of residents and do our best to ensure that both care workers and recipients can have a warm and safe winter.”
