The Presidential Office announced on the 27th that it will hold an emergency countermeasure meeting in response to the incoming U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 'tariff bomb' targeting major trading partners such as Mexico, Canada, and China.

The Presidential Office stated that at the emergency meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. that day, they will review the trends in U.S. tariff policies and discuss future response measures.

A representative from the Presidential Office explained, "Many Korean companies have expanded into regions such as Mexico and Canada, which Trump mentioned," adding, "This meeting is intended to comprehensively assess the current situation, the impact on Korean companies, and possible response strategies."

Earlier, on the 25th (local time), President-elect Trump posted on the social networking service Truth Social that on his inauguration day, January 20 next year, he will impose an additional 10% tariff on China on top of existing tariffs, and impose 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada respectively.
