Amid the revelation that actor Jung Woo-sung and model Moon Ga-bi have an illegitimate child, Jung Woo-sung's statement from 20 years ago is being reexamined.
In 2004, after the release of the film A Moment to Remember, in which Jung Woo-sung starred alongside actress Son Ye-jin, he gave an interview to a fashion magazine. At the time, when a reporter asked, "Actresses can observe you closely and even talk to you. It seems they have considerable inner charm as well as looks," Jung Woo-sung replied, "I don't know what kind of inner charm I exude. But I personally value that more." He added, "For women, inner charm is more important than breast size or whether they have double eyelids. The scent that comes out when they casually say something is really strong. It's sexier than any mesh stockings."
When asked, "You probably didn't think that way in your 20s," he confessed, "I don't think I looked at women that seriously back then." He continued, "At that time, not only looks but also the atmosphere was important. So, rather than seeing a woman's inner self, I remember having intimate encounters because of the charm I felt in a moment." When asked if he was upset by the previous questions, he said, "It's interesting. I also have an open mind and a desire to talk more, but there are parts I can't do, so it's a bit disappointing." He further stated, "Someday, won't there be a day when I can answer the question 'Who did you sleep with?' by saying, 'I slept with that person, but it was a bit bland' or something like that?" This interview has been spreading again mainly on online communities following Jung Woo-sung's illegitimate child scandal.
Earlier, on the 22nd, Moon Ga-bi revealed on her social media account that "As a mother of one child, I gathered the courage to live enjoying a more ordinary happiness," announcing her recent childbirth. Two days later, when the entertainment media Dispatch reported that Moon Ga-bi's son is Jung Woo-sung's biological child, Jung Woo-sung's side confirmed, "He is indeed the biological father," and stated, "He will fulfill his responsibilities as a father." However, they drew a line by saying, "We cannot confirm details related to the timing of the child's birth, whether Moon Ga-bi and Jung Woo-sung dated, or marriage plans, as these are private matters."
However, on the 25th, Ten Asia reported, "Unlike Moon Ga-bi, Jung Woo-sung showed a strong stance saying 'marriage is not possible,'" fueling controversy. The report added, "Jung Woo-sung had been in a long-term relationship with a non-celebrity woman, who was shocked to learn about the existence of the illegitimate child." Additionally, an impromptu photo showing Jung Woo-sung engaging in skinship with the non-celebrity woman was leaked online.
