Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, announced the direction of next year's city administration through a policy speech at the 2nd regular meeting of the 139th Changwon City Council held on the 25th.

Before explaining the direction of city administration, Mayor Hong reflected on the past two years and six months of administration, saying, "We have firmly paved the way for a leap forward to breathe new vitality into Changwon, and these efforts are bearing fruit," and added, "Especially this year, we took a meaningful step in Changwon's half-century industrial history."
As the direction for next year's city administration, Mayor Hong expressed his ambition, saying, "Based on the solid administrative foundation we have built so far, we will actively produce results that citizens can feel and make 2025 a year of leap and soaring as the center of Northeast Asia."
To this end, he will focus on implementing the 5+1 strategies: ▲ Visualizing innovative growth for the next 50 years ▲ Establishing a thicker safety net for life ▲ Enhancing the unique urban dignity of Changwon ▲ Creating organically connected urban spaces ▲ Building a vibrant city that attracts youth ▲ Creating definite changes in daily life.
Mayor Hong emphasized, "In this era of great transformation and hyper-competition, to lead change beyond survival, we must leverage Changwon's comparative advantages and now create a time of leap," and concluded his policy speech by saying, "Let us all come together to create a Changwon that soars boldly as the center of Northeast Asia by combining the innovation growth momentum accumulated so far with the greatest power of harmony and solidarity."
Meanwhile, Changwon City's budget proposal for next year focuses on increasing efficiency to properly allocate funds where needed while maintaining a sound fiscal policy that does not burden future generations.
By strengthening the review of the overall budget, including local subsidies, to significantly reduce wasteful elements, the budget prioritizes projects closely related to citizens' daily lives, strengthening the safety net for life, and allocating funds for creating growth engines to prepare for the future.
Accordingly, the 2025 budget proposal amounts to a total of 3.7717 trillion KRW, an increase of 64.3 billion KRW compared to this year, with the general account set at 3.2912 trillion KRW and the special account at 480.5 billion KRW.
