Interest in France's 'Gongjung Experience' Restaurant
Dining Room Lifted by Crane for Meal
A completely new culinary attempt has emerged in France, the birthplace of "fine dining," attracting the attention of netizens worldwide. It is the so-called "Sky Restaurant," where tables and chairs are suspended 50 meters above the ground for dining.
On the 24th (local time), Alexander, a popular YouTuber with 360,000 subscribers and a Michelin restaurant critic, shared his impressions after visiting the French fine dining restaurant "Sky Experience (Sky Experience·Sky Experience)."
Sky Experience is located in Reims, a small city in the Marne region of the Grand Est region of France. Guests can enjoy elegant meals against the backdrop of tranquil rural scenery and beautiful medieval cathedrals. However, Sky Experience differentiates itself from other restaurants by allowing diners to enjoy their meals 50 meters above the ground.
Sky Experience seats guests in a "dining room" where tables and seats are connected as one unit, which is then lifted by a massive construction crane. Guests can savor champagne and wine and cut steak while suspended 50 meters in the air, fully enjoying the "aerial dining" experience.
Alexander noted that all tables and seats used in Sky Experience are equipped with thorough safety measures, saying, "It looks safe to me. I was able to relax and enjoy the appetizers." The appetizers included cucumber tart and carrot cake.
After finishing the appetizers, guests sat in their assigned seats and secured themselves with seat belts and cables. The head chef overseeing the meal joked, "Before you go to dine, please do not change seats during the meal," adding, "It's absolutely not a good idea," which made the guests laugh.
Later, Alexander tasted the full course, including lobster, tomato, and steak. In the center of the dining table at Sky Experience, cooking equipment was set up, and chefs demonstrated cooking, such as grilling meat. Alexander marveled, "It must be very difficult to control the cooking temperature 50 meters up," adding, "Literally, cold wind passes through the dining room."
Meanwhile, Sky Experience has branches in some European and North American countries, including France. The price per person is 370 euros (about 544,000 KRW), and it is classified as a "special event" that accommodates only 22 guests at a time. It is reported that Sky Experience has branches in Reims headquarters in France, Toronto in Canada, Lisbon in Portugal, and Belgium.
