Confession of Charges in Police Investigation Report
An active-duty Army chaplain (a pastor assigned to a military unit) was caught installing an illegal camera in the women's restroom of a military base church and was sent to prosecution without detention.
On the 25th, the Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency announced that they had sent Major A, an Army chaplain at the Army Comprehensive Administration School, to prosecution without detention on charges of attempting to secretly install a camera in the women's restroom of a military base church and film (attempted filming using a camera under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act).
On August 2nd, A installed cameras inside the trash bins of three stalls in the women's restroom of the church. However, the crime was only attempted as a civilian female churchgoer who was cleaning the restroom discovered the cameras on the same day. This church, located outside the base, has been used by civilians and military families together.
When the unit's internal investigation began, A confessed to his superior that he had installed the cameras, and he reportedly admitted to the charges during the police investigation as well.
A police official stated, "Forensic analysis of A's cameras and mobile phone found no other illegal recordings."
