"Death Insurance, Signed by Kim Byung-man"
"Malicious Comments Calling Me 'Second Lee Eun-hae'"
"Kim Byung-man Is Powerful, I'm a Single Mom"
Broadcaster Kim Byung-man's ex-wife, Ms. A, has clarified rumors surrounding her amid ongoing conflicts following their divorce.
On the 21st, Ms. A stated in an interview with the YouTube channel 'Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho' that "there are only four life insurance policies taken out in Kim Byung-man's name after our marriage," adding, "At the beginning of our marriage, an insurance agent personally visited the KBS 'Gag Concert' recording studio to obtain signatures. Kim Byung-man was fully aware and signed all of them." She continued, "I also have a fact verification letter from the insurance agent," expressing her frustration by saying, "I thought presenting evidence would quickly dispel the suspicions, but I even received malicious comments calling me the 'second Lee Eun-hae,' accusing me of trying to kill Kim Byung-man."
She also addressed rumors that all her ex-husbands had died, emphasizing, "This is my remarriage, not my third marriage, and my ex-husband is alive." Furthermore, she appealed, "I hope this stops now. Kim Byung-man is a powerful person, and I am just a single mother with a mother suffering from dementia, a sibling living abroad, and a daughter," adding, "Why must I be trampled on like this? I hope it will end."
Earlier this year, Ms. A filed a police complaint against Kim Byung-man, alleging that she had been repeatedly assaulted during disputes over family matters spanning several years. In response, on the 13th, Kim Byung-man's legal representative appeared on a YouTube channel and claimed, "Ms. A secretly took out about 20 life insurance policies in his name without his knowledge." He explained, "Although the names differ, the structure is such that if the insured dies, the insurance payout goes to the beneficiary or heir, making it essentially no different from life insurance. Kim Byung-man only became aware of this during the divorce proceedings." Additionally, the entertainment media Dispatch reported on their divorce process, revealing that Ms. A secretly withdrew approximately 670 million KRW from Kim Byung-man and spent over 3 billion KRW over ten years.
Subsequently, in an interview with the media, Ms. A defended herself, saying, "Kim Byung-man was the head of the household, and since I am older, I thought it was prudent to have insurance in place," asserting, "I swear I never secretly took out life insurance." She also claimed to have been assaulted, stating, "Kim Byung-man grabbed my hair, strangled me, and kicked me." However, the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office reportedly decided on the 19th not to prosecute Kim Byung-man on charges of assault and injury due to insufficient evidence.
