Department of Human Factors Engineering at Dong-Eui University Wins Awards at the Korean Society of Human Factors Engineering Capstone and Paper Competition

Students from the Department of Human Factors Engineering at Dong-Eui University, along with Professors Lee Jae-in and Lim Young-jae, received the Excellence Award and Encouragement Award in the Capstone Design Competition, as well as the Encouragement Award in the Student Paper Competition at the "2024 Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics," held from the 13th to the 16th at Gonjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do.

A team of fourth-year students from the Department of Human Factors Engineering at Dong-Eui University?So Da-eun, Shin Ji-won, and Ryu Soo-kyung?received the Excellence Award at the 14th Capstone Design Competition, held as part of the fall conference, for their project titled "Usability Evaluation and Improvement Proposals for Wireless Vacuum Cleaners." Their work focused on identifying user inconveniences with LG Electronics' wireless vacuum cleaner and proposing improvements.


Additionally, a team of third-year students?Kim Sung-won, Lee So-gon, Yoo Seung-jun, and Ham Soo-min?received the Encouragement Award for analyzing interface design issues of rice cookers through surveys and usability evaluations, and suggesting directions for improvement to enhance usability.


At the 13th Student Paper Competition, master's student Lee Joon-sung from the Department of Human Factors Engineering received the Encouragement Award for proposing a layout suitable for usability by conducting eye-tracking analysis and usability evaluation between standard and trend web layouts.


Since its founding in 1982, the Korean Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics has played a central role in the development of human factors engineering in Korea for over 40 years. It publishes six journals annually and holds two academic conferences each year, awarding prizes such as the Capstone Design Competition, Human Factors Design Award, and Human Factors Academic Award. Currently, approximately 2,000 members and 500 regular members are active in the society.
