15 Million Won Worth of Supplies Supported, Expecting Reduction in Maritime Accidents
On the afternoon of the 18th, S-OIL Ulsan Plant donated maritime safety relief supplies worth 15 million KRW to the Ulsan Coast Guard Station for small-scale fishermen, including single-person fishing boats in the Ulsan area.
The delivery ceremony was held as part of the "Campaign to Reduce Maritime Accidents" conducted by the Korea Coast Guard targeting fishermen and marine-related businesses. Attendees included Ahn Cheol-jun, Chief of Ulsan Coast Guard Station, Park Sung-hoon, Executive Director of S-OIL, and Gu Chun-geun, President of the Ulsan Maritime Rescue Association.
S-OIL provided 15 million KRW to purchase maritime safety relief supplies, and the Korea Maritime Rescue Association used the funds to buy inflatable life jackets certified by the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, as well as powder (ABC) and throwable liquid fire extinguishers.
The purchased items will be directly delivered to small-scale fishermen based in ports and harbors of Ulju-gun, Ulsan, through the Ulsan Coast Guard Station.
Park Sung-hoon, Executive Director of S-OIL, stated, "We will actively participate in the maritime safety culture promotion campaign led by the Korea Coast Guard to contribute to reducing maritime accidents and establishing a maritime safety culture. Through public-private cooperation, we will carry out various social contribution activities tailored to the needs of local residents."
Since 2022, S-OIL has been supporting maritime safety relief supplies for small-scale fishermen operating fishing boats under 2 tons based in Gangyang Port and Jinha Port. Additionally, to help Ulsan fishermen live in a clean sea environment, S-OIL has been conducting underwater cleanup activities along the Ulsan coast and cleanup activities around Mokdo, which was adopted as a companion beach.
