Inspection of 14 Airports Nationwide Conducted Over One Month

Korea Airports Corporation has established a comprehensive plan and conducted special safety inspections at airports nationwide in preparation for disasters such as heavy snowfall and cold waves during the winter season.

On the 18th, the corporation announced that it had formulated a 'Comprehensive Plan for Heavy Snow, Cold Wave, and Fire' and carried out special inspections at 14 airports nationwide from the 23rd of last month to the 15th of this month.

Specifically, to ensure prompt response during snowfall at airports nationwide, snow removal plans were established and simulated snow removal drills were conducted. The management status of snow removal equipment and materials, as well as the securing of disaster management supplies to prepare for passenger congestion, were inspected.

To prepare for fires caused by the use of heating devices within airports, comprehensive fire prevention activities were also carried out, including fire safety guidance inspections, training, and pre-inspections of firefighting and fire prevention facilities.

Additionally, to prevent facility damage such as water pipe bursts caused by cold waves, regular inspections of airport facilities, construction sites, and outdoor workplaces were conducted, and safety education to prevent cold-related illnesses among on-site workers will continue to be provided.

Lee Jeong-gi, Acting President of Korea Airports Corporation, stated, "We will provide safe and convenient airport services through proactive preventive activities against winter disasters."
