Captain Daehyeonho Missing, Found Dead Near Seogwipo Accident Waters

Body Found 5.5km from Accident Site

The body of Captain A of the fishing vessel 2Daeheonho, which capsized off the coast of Jeju, was found.

On the 16th, the Seogwipo Coast Guard in Jeju announced that they had recovered the body of Captain A, in his 60s, of the fishing vessel 2Daeheonho that capsized the previous day off the coast of Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City, and handed it over to 119 emergency services.

Captain A's body was found at around 11:43 a.m. that day in the waters near Pyoseon Port, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo City, about 5.5 km from the accident site.

The 7.93-ton fishing vessel 2Daeheonho, registered in Seongsan, capsized at around 3:37 p.m. the previous day while fishing about 2.8 km off Onpyeong Port, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo City. Captain A went missing in the accident, while three crew members were rescued after staying on the overturned hull.

The government issued a crisis alert level "Warning" at 4:25 p.m. on the day of the accident according to the "Nearshore Fishing Vessel Accident Crisis Response Manual" and has been conducting search operations for the missing person.
