Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Cheers for a 'Second Act of Life' Filled with Coffee Aroma

On the afternoon of the 13th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the Mapo Senior Club, where the '1st Caferri Barista Competition' was held, to encourage the senior participants.

Hosted by the Mapo Senior Club and sponsored by Mapo District and the social welfare organization World Vision, the competition featured five senior baristas who advanced to the finals out of 69 preliminary participants.

Additionally, about 50 participants from the senior job program Caferri also joined to support the contestants.

The finalists prepared and submitted a total of three types of beverages, including espresso and caf? latte. The judges evaluated their skills and taste to select one grand prize winner, one excellence awardee, and three merit awardees.

On the day, Mayor Park Gang-su conducted a brewing demonstration with the baristas and took time to taste the beverages made by the finalists.

Mayor Park Gang-su said, “I hope that this competition, held for the first time this year, will become an event that attracts senior barista aspirants from across the country in the coming years.” He added, “Mapo District will continue to show interest and provide support for senior employment to ensure a healthy and vibrant life for our elderly citizens.”
