Afternoon Governor Oh holds a meeting with the Residents' Autonomy Associations of 10 cities and counties in Northern Gyeonggi

On the 12th, Gyeonggi Province held a meeting at the Northern Office of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, inviting the Residents' Autonomy Councils of cities and counties in Northern Gyeonggi to communicate about the development of Northern Gyeonggi.

The meeting, chaired by Oh Hu-seok, the 2nd Deputy Governor for Administration, was organized to listen to the expectations and concerns of the local communities through communication with the Residents' Autonomy Councils, who represent each region and are well acquainted with local conditions. Representatives from all 10 cities and counties in Northern Gyeonggi attended, demonstrating the local community's interest in the development of Northern Gyeonggi.


Deputy Governor Oh Hu-seok gave a special lecture explaining the difficulties caused by overlapping regulations in Northern Gyeonggi, the background and vision for the establishment of the Northern Gyeonggi Special Self-Governing Province, and the Northern Gyeonggi Grand Renovation Project. He stated, “Gyeonggi Province is sincerely committed to the development of Northern Gyeonggi. The greatest driving force for this development is the residents here today,” urging active interest and support.


During the subsequent Q&A and informal discussions, Deputy Governor Oh Hu-seok and the Residents' Autonomy Councils freely shared their opinions.


One participant expressed, “First, I appreciate the province’s efforts for the development of Northern Gyeonggi. Although it has often been a source of false hope, I was able to glimpse some hope this time. As a resident of Northern Gyeonggi, I hope the policies mentioned will be implemented without setbacks to make Northern Gyeonggi a better place to live.”


Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province is making comprehensive efforts to expand public consensus for the establishment of the Northern Gyeonggi Special Self-Governing Province by listening to residents’ opinions through over 130 events including city and county forums, public hearings, and outreach briefings and special lectures for civic groups and universities.
