Busan National University G-Lamp Project Group and University of Tokyo Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute Sign MOU for Advancement of Climate and Ocean Science Technology

Specialized Basic Science Collaboration, Strengthening International Research Infrastructure

Busan National University (President Choi Jae-won) G-LAMP (LAMP) Project Group (Director Jeong Jae-hoon, Professor of Molecular Biology) and the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo, Japan, signed a memorandum of understanding for the advancement of climate and ocean science and technology on the 11th at the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, Kashiwa Campus, University of Tokyo, the 12th reported.


Through this business agreement, the two institutions will establish a mutual cooperation system in various areas including ▲joint research in climate change, marine environment, and marine resources ▲joint use of research facilities and equipment ▲exchange of research personnel and cooperation in talent development ▲academic activities and information exchange, aiming to promote the development of marine science and technology.


Based on the expertise in basic science and research infrastructure possessed by the two institutions, they plan to closely cooperate in various fields such as responding to climate change, addressing marine microplastic issues, joint investigation of marine resources, and training of specialized personnel.


At the signing ceremony, Jeong Jae-hoon, Director of Busan National University G-LAMP Project Group, said, “This agreement marks the beginning of establishing an international cooperation system with the University of Tokyo, representing Japan, and we expect a synergistic effect in the future as we jointly strive for the development of marine education and research.”


HYODO Susumu, Director of the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute at the University of Tokyo, said, “We hope that through this agreement, the two institutions will continuously cooperate to achieve tangible results in various research fields such as developing utilization technologies for responding to climate change and protecting the marine environment and marine resources.”


The Busan National University G-LAMP Project Group has actively promoted mutual exchanges through agreements with domestic earth, ocean, and atmospheric science-related companies and research institutions such as Fishcare Co., Ltd., Genlife Co., Ltd., Humanoid Olfactory Display Center, and the National Institute of Fisheries Science, and plans to further expand exchanges and cooperation with major domestic and international earth, ocean, and atmospheric science-related institutions in the future.
