Gyeongbuk Vocational High School Graduates Employment Rate 69.5% Nationwide No.1... Maintaining Top Nationwide for 5 Consecutive Years

Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 11th that it ranked first nationwide with a final employment rate of 69.5% (national average 55.3%) in the ‘2024 Vocational High School Graduates Employment Statistics Survey’ released by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute conduct the vocational high school employment statistics survey annually as of April 1 by linking with public databases (DB) to ensure objectivity and reliability of vocational high school employment rates. Since the survey began in 2020, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education has maintained the highest employment rate nationwide for five consecutive years.

The recently announced progression rate to higher education for vocational high school graduates in Gyeongbuk was 29.6% (national average 48.0%), the lowest in the country. This demonstrates that Gyeongbuk’s vocational high schools provide customized education tailored to students’ individual talents and aptitudes in line with the vocational education direction of ‘employment and skilled worker training,’ thereby enhancing students’ employment competitiveness in related fields.

The secret to this achievement lies in the promotion of vocational high school restructuring aligned with changes in the era toward new industries and new technologies and consumer demands, the operation of the 10th industrial curriculum to actively respond to changes in the future industrial society by nurturing future convergence talents, the Gyeongbuk-type apprenticeship project as a regional specialty business that operates customized employment education courses desired by companies, and the establishment of a local government cooperative education model through the vocational high school innovation district project. At the center of these efforts is the Gyeongbuk Office of Education Employment Support Center, which played a role as the control tower.

Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, “The reason why the employment rate of vocational high schools under the Gyeongbuk Office of Education has been the highest nationwide for five consecutive years is the discovery of jobs tailored to industrial demand and the operation of systematic employment competency enhancement programs that support vocational high school students to grow into excellent skilled workers.” He added, “We will continue to take the lead in establishing a flexible and integrated vocational education system and providing an attractive educational environment so that Gyeongbuk vocational education, which guarantees a better tomorrow, can become a global standard for vocational education.”
