Sharing Digital Textbook Policies and Usage Cases
with 100 Special Education Teachers in Naju
Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education has taken proactive steps to support AI-tailored teaching and learning methods for students with disabilities.
On the 11th, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced that it held a ‘AI-Based Teaching and Learning Capacity Building Training for Elementary Special Education Teachers’ on the 9th at the Western Hotel in Naju, targeting 100 special education teachers in the province.

This training was organized to support the establishment of AI digital textbooks in special education settings, as AI digital textbooks will be first introduced next year in math, English, information, and Korean (special education) subjects.
The attending special education teachers had time to explore digital textbook teaching methods, strengthening their capabilities, and changes in their roles. The training consisted of seven sessions combining theory and practice, covering AI digital textbook policies, core textbook content, and AI digital textbook standards. Key topics included ‘AI Digital Textbook Teaching Methods and Changes in Teachers’ Roles’ by Professor Yeoseung Hyun (Daegu National University of Education), ‘Cases of AI Courseware Utilization in Special Schools’ by Teacher Jeong Woong (Hampyeong Yeonghwa School), and ‘How to Use AI-Based Customized Special Education Solutions’ by Teacher Park Cheonil (Yeongam Office of Education).
A teacher who participated in the training said, “I realized that when AI technology is integrated into special education, students’ learning opportunities can expand further,” adding, “I will actively utilize AI tools for individualized education of students in the classroom.”
Lee Jihyun, Director of Secondary Education at the Provincial Office of Education, emphasized, “Through AI digital textbooks, students with disabilities can overcome the limitations of traditional printed textbooks and enhance learning effectiveness by providing diverse content,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support special education teachers in strengthening their capabilities through AI-based training and improving the quality of special education.”
