Democratic Party Holds 'Condemnation Rally' Over Yoon's Statement... Criticizes "Arrogant Attitude"

70 People Gather Outdoors Shouting "Special Prosecutor for Kim Geon-hee"
Park Chan-dae Says "President Yoon Has No Qualification as President"

The Democratic Party of Korea held an 'emergency condemnation rally' at the National Assembly in protest against President Yoon Seok-yeol's national address. Democratic Party lawmakers urged the acceptance of the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act, accusing President Yoon of being "full of lies and arrogance."

About 70 Democratic Party lawmakers, including Floor Leader Park Chan-dae, gathered around 8 p.m. on the stairs in front of the main building of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, holding a banner that read "A National Address Full of Lies! We Condemn President Yoon Seok-yeol!" Park harshly criticized, saying, "President Yoon's address today was the ultimate example of an out-of-body rhetoric that revealed the president's base philosophy, arrogant perception, and insolent attitude." Earlier that day, President Yoon held a press conference for about 140 minutes at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul.

At the condemnation rally, Floor Leader Park said, "Even though the voice recording of the phone call with Mr. Myeong Tae-gyun was revealed, he completely denied the fact of nomination trading," and added, "Also, the special prosecutor claims it violates the separation of powers, so why did he participate in the Park Geun-hye special prosecutor investigation?" He continued, "The conclusion of today's address is that 'President Yoon is unfit to be president,'" emphasizing, "Now the answer has become clearer. The justification and legitimacy to push for the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act have become clear." Participants repeatedly shouted slogans such as "It is the people's order, investigate Kim Geon-hee with a special prosecutor."

The Democratic Party has been maintaining a tent next to the stairs in front of the main building of the National Assembly since the 5th, conducting an 'Emergency Action to Enforce the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act.' Even after the condemnation rally ended, some lawmakers participated in the emergency action. The Democratic Party plans to submit the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act at the plenary session of the National Assembly scheduled for the 14th. Even if President Yoon exercises his veto power against the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act, the party intends to pressure the ruling party to achieve a re-vote within November.
