Busan Urban Corporation Provides Food Support for Permanent Rental Apartments, Warm Sharing

Free Meal Support for Residents... Year-End Donation of 8,580kg of Rice to Vulnerable Groups

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yong-hak) supported 429 bags of rice (white rice, 20kg per bag) on the 6th to senior citizen cafeterias within permanent rental apartment complexes managed by the corporation.

The "Sharing Love Rice" project was planned to practice emotional housing welfare and assist the dietary needs of vulnerable groups. This support targets nine rental apartment complexes managed by Busan Metropolitan Corporation for citizens' housing stability, including Dongsam 1·2, Dadae 3·4·5, Deokcheon 2, Gaegum 2, Hakjang 1, and Bansong districts.

The total 429 bags of white rice provided were allocated according to the number of households in each complex. The rice will be delivered to social welfare centers operating senior cafeterias that provide free daily meals within the rental apartment complexes, offering a warm meal to the elderly.

Despite the challenging financial management conditions, including the increasing maintenance costs of aging rental apartments every year, BMC is making various efforts to support residents facing economic difficulties. In particular, this free meal project has allocated a budget of approximately 30 million KRW, significantly expanding the amount of support compared to previous years.

The rice provided was purchased through a contract with a social enterprise that produces products made by persons with severe disabilities, contributing not only to housing welfare but also to improving welfare for the disabled by creating jobs for them.

Kim Yong-hak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, "I hope this rice support will help rental apartment residents who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives," and added, "Through the Housing Welfare ON (溫) project, we will make various efforts to realize emotional housing welfare so that more residents can lead happy lives."
