Hankyung Association "Congratulations on Trump’s US Presidential Election Victory... Expecting Economic Cooperation at Next Month's Korea-US Business Meeting"

The Korea Economic Association (KEA) expressed its congratulations and welcome on the election of the 47th U.S. President, Donald Trump, on the 6th. KEA evaluated the election result as the choice of the American people who desire a resurgence of the United States through change.

KEA stated, "We hope that the new administration led by President Trump will further strengthen the Korea-U.S. alliance and expand and develop economic cooperation between the two countries based on the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA)." It also added, "We expect the creation of a friendly investment and trade environment so that Korean companies' investment and trade with the U.S. can continue."

KEA forecasted that amid the global spread of national industrial policies and protectionism, the external environment for Korea, a manufacturing and export-oriented country, will become more competitive.

In this situation, KEA emphasized that the Korean government and companies should minimize burdens and maximize opportunities through a sophisticated public-private cooperation system in preparation for the changes brought by the second Trump administration.

Furthermore, KEA stated, "We will continuously strive to strengthen the partnership between Korea and the U.S. as an economic channel operating the highest-level private economic cooperation channel between the two countries."

To this end, starting with the '35th Korea-U.S. Business Council Meeting' scheduled to be held in Washington this December, KEA plans to faithfully fulfill the role of conveying the voice of the Korean business community to the U.S. government.
