Professor Jang Sungwook's Team at Dankook University Hospital Wins 'Outstanding Paper Award' from the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery

Chungnam Cheonan Dankook University Hospital announced on the 6th that Professor Jang Sungwook's team recently received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of Chest Surgery (JCS) at the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery conference.

The research team analyzed 96 patients who received REBOA (Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta) for traumatic shock among severe trauma patients who visited the Chungnam Regional Trauma Center from August 2016 to September 2021. As a result, the overall success rate of REBOA was 97.9%, and the survival rate was 32.6%.

Professor Jang said, "Through this study, we confirmed that the proper application of REBOA played a crucial role in improving survival and clinical outcomes for severe trauma patients who experienced hemorrhagic shock due to massive bleeding in the abdominal and pelvic cavities."
