Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that from November 7 to 21, for a period of 7 days, it will hold the ‘Seoul Donghaeng Sanghoe’ and ‘Next Local’ events at the S-Metro Local Market store in Jamsil Station on Line 2.

This event was organized to introduce various local agricultural, marine, and specialty products as well as regionally connected products by young entrepreneurs to Seoul citizens and visitors, aiming to revitalize the local economy. It pursues the common goals of overcoming the risk of regional extinction and promoting urban-rural coexistence, shared by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Metro.

‘Seoul Donghaeng Sanghoe’ is a permanent store located in Anguk-dong that supports the sales channels of local farmers’ products and provides local agricultural, marine, and specialty products to Seoul citizens at affordable prices.

The ‘Next Local’ project supports startups by Seoul youth utilizing local resources. It is a project that creates a win-win effect of regional coexistence by generating jobs for Seoul youth and revitalizing the local economy.

At this event, various products such as tangerines, salted seafood, and gim produced by local residents, as well as innovative products combining young entrepreneurs’ ideas with local resources like Yeoju pickles and Gondre pesto, will be sold. Seoul Metro provides the Jamsil Station store on Line 2, which has the best location among its own regional market brand ‘S-Metro Local Market’ stores.

Meanwhile, in addition to policies supporting youth startups, customers holding the Climate Donghaeng Card will receive a 10% discount, making this a meaningful event aligned with Seoul’s ‘Donghaeng’ philosophy.

Opened in June, the ‘S-Metro Local Market’ has received great response from citizens by creating synergy for urban-rural coexistence through cooperation between Seoul Metro and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The two organizations plan to continue promoting joint projects that satisfy both citizens and local residents starting with this event.

Kim Jeong-hwan, Head of the Strategic Business Division, stated, “This event is a meaningful one where Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Metro have joined forces to spread the value of ‘Donghaeng·Charming Special City Seoul’ and to overcome the national agenda of regional extinction risk. We ask for the interest and participation of all citizens.”
