First Profit-Sharing Store Debuted in Daehakro in 2014
Now Expanded to 9 Locations Nationwide
Cumulative Support of 4.5 Billion KRW to Partner Organizations

Starbucks Korea announced on the 4th that its profit-sharing store, the Community Store, has celebrated its 10th anniversary since opening.

As a social contribution program, Starbucks Korea first introduced the Community Store in October 2014 in Daehangno. Since then, 300 KRW from every item sold at the stores has been accumulated as a donation and delivered to partner organizations (NGOs). Currently, a total of nine stores are operating nationwide. The partner organizations are conducting mid- to long-term projects using the donations in accordance with the purpose of each store's establishment.

The Daehangno store has used 2 billion KRW in donations over the past 10 years to provide scholarships to a total of 101 young talents and has conducted internships and overseas training programs. Additionally, from the second Community Store opened in May 2020 at Seongsu Station to the ninth store opened in July this year at Hwanggudan, programs are being operated in connection with various social interests such as ▲disability awareness improvement ▲support for youth preparing for independence ▲coexistence with traditional markets ▲support for descendants of national veterans ▲environmental programs ▲support for youth preparing for employment ▲protection of national heritage.

To date, the total amount Starbucks Korea has delivered to partner organizations reaches 4.5 billion KRW. Until the 10th, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Community Store, a comment event is being held on the official YouTube channel, where 100 participants who leave comments on the 10th anniversary commemorative video will receive gifts. Also, on the same day at the Daehangno store, the first 200 customers who bring receipts from purchases made at the Community Store and leave comments on YouTube will receive tumblers.

Kim Ji-young, head of Starbucks Korea’s ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) team, said, "We will continue to expand Community Stores that support local community development to help create a healthy society."
