Regular Executive Personnel Changes... Appointment of Young Leaders with Extensive Overseas Business Experience
OCI Holdings has established a Growth Strategy Office focused on advancing its overseas business. Kim Taek-jung, Vice Chairman of OCI, has been appointed Vice Chairman of OCI Holdings to lead new growth engines.
On the 1st, OCI Holdings announced that it conducted executive personnel changes involving a total of 18 people, including 11 promotions and 7 transfers.
This personnel reshuffle reflects principles such as strategic responses to new projects in Malaysia, expansion of the U.S. solar value chain, domestic and international advanced materials business growth, reorganization of professional personnel and enhancement of organizational efficiency to strengthen competitiveness, and a strict performance-based internal promotion policy within the group.
Alongside Vice Chairman Kim, President Kim Yushin (also President of OCI) and President Seo Jin-seok will serve as CEOs, overseeing the chemical business and non-chemical business divisions, respectively.
Executive Director Lee Su-mi of OCI has been promoted to Vice President of OCI Holdings. She is the first female vice president from the open recruitment since the company's founding in 1959. Vice President Lee will concurrently serve as COO (Chief Operating Officer) and CFO (Chief Financial Officer), responsible for the group’s mid- to long-term management strategy and financial management centered on the holding company.
The Growth Strategy Office (Business Development Department and Overseas Strategy Department) is staffed with young talents well-versed in overseas business. It will serve as a control tower for the entire group, from existing businesses to new businesses that will ensure a sustainable future. It will broadly collect key issues from each affiliate and business division to lead strategic decision-making and execution.
The Growth Strategy Office is led by Executive Director Kwak Ki-hoon and Deputy General Manager Lee Jae-seok, both in their 40s, and will manage and supervise all matters necessary for decision-making on major ongoing issues such as facility investments in Malaysia and the U.S. solar business.
Executive Director Kwak graduated from Nankai University Affiliated High School and the Chinese Language and Literature Department at Nankai University. He has extensive overseas business experience, having served as head of the China Business Strategy Team, appointed as Deputy General Manager of OCI China, and notably promoted to General Manager at the age of 35 in 2018. He will be responsible for overall new business expansion, including joint ventures with top-tier global solar companies in the U.S.
Deputy General Manager Lee graduated from Korea University and its graduate school with a degree in Materials Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Florida State University in the U.S. and has worked as a senior researcher before joining OCI’s Central Research Institute and handling business development planning.
