Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Appoints Dr. Gil Gwang-su as 'Public Relations Ambassador'

'Experts' Who Have Contributed to the Development of the Port and Logistics Sector

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 1st that it appointed Dr. Gil Gwang-su from the Korea Maritime and Port Strategy Institute as its public relations ambassador on the 30th of last month.


Dr. Gil worked at the Korea Maritime Institute and conducted numerous studies related to ports and logistics. He has significantly contributed to the development of the port logistics sector, including Yeosu and Gwangyang Ports, by publishing various books such as the "Upside-Down World Map."

Following the appointment ceremony, Dr. Gil also gave a lecture at the 1st Port Logistics Leaders Academy jointly hosted by Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (YGPA) and the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Under the theme "Diagnosis and Tasks of the Gwangyang Port Container Handling Market," he diagnosed issues concerning the current status of Gwangyang Port as a port logistics expert and suggested future directions.


Additionally, during the discussion session, time was allocated for sharing ideas with the Leaders Academy attendees on topics such as improving automated terminals, enhancing the efficiency of terminal operators, and proposals for the re-advancement of Gwangyang Port.


Park Seong-hyun, President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, said, "I am sincerely pleased to appoint Dr. Gil Gwang-su, who has worked hard for the development of Yeosu and Gwangyang Ports, as our public relations ambassador," and added, "We ask for his active participation in the future for the development of Yeosu, Gwangyang Ports, and domestic ports."
