Improving Convenience of Local Residents' Passage
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byung-jin) will partially open the underground shopping passage between Suyeong and Gwang-an stations from 10 a.m. on November 2, which had caused inconvenience to local residents due to a long delay in opening.
The underground shopping area between Suyeong and Gwang-an stations was established through an agreement between Busan Transportation Corporation and private business operators. Since its completion in January 2017, the opening has been delayed for a long time due to a sluggish rental market and management difficulties faced by the project implementers, causing inconvenience to citizens using the underground passage.
Currently, some sections of the underground shopping area are occupied by pet-related businesses, and discussions are underway with private operators and stakeholders from various fields such as pet startups, cosmetics, and gaming to open stores in the remaining areas.
Lee Byung-jin, president of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, “Although the entire shopping area is not yet fully occupied, we have decided to open the passage first to alleviate residents’ inconvenience. We sincerely thank the citizens who have endured the inconvenience, and we will spare no effort and support to ensure that the underground shopping area between Suyeong and Gwang-an stations is reborn as a space convenient for citizens to use as soon as possible.”
