SDN is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by news that the commercialization of next-generation perovskite solar cells is imminent.
As of 2:11 PM on the 31st, SDN is trading at 1,281 KRW, up 4.15% compared to the previous day.
According to industry sources, while the world is competing for the commercialization of next-generation solar cells, perovskite tandem cells?stacked solar cells that maximize the advantages of both silicon and perovskite solar cells?are gaining attention. Theoretically, perovskite tandem cells can increase the power conversion efficiency of light energy to electricity up to 44%, making them a 'game changer' in the global energy industry.
Perovskite is a solar cell material that combines the advantages of both organic and inorganic materials. It can be produced through a simple and inexpensive chemical reaction, and when applied in solution form onto plastic film, it becomes a flexible solar cell. However, perovskite solar cells have the limitation of being vulnerable to heat.
To address this, tandem cells using a stacking method that adds a perovskite layer on top of a silicon substrate are being attempted. Silicon and perovskite absorb light in different wavelength regions. Therefore, tandem cells have a wider absorption wavelength range than single panels of silicon or perovskite alone, significantly improving efficiency.
Meanwhile, SDN operates a solar power business supplying solar power generation systems, solar panels, inverters, and more. Previously, it secured process technology that achieves a production yield of over 98% for 450W-class bifacial glass-to-glass (GTG) modules. The GTG process technology is a foundational technology for perovskite stacking modules.
