This performance addressed not only smoking but also drinking, drugs, and substance abuse with realistic content tailored to the level of students of the AI digital generation, presented in a musical format featuring lively and fresh acting, dancing, and singing.
In particular, to build rapport with the students, current students were cast on the spot to perform as actors, filling the gymnasium with cheers and laughter throughout the show. The performance concluded successfully with all attending students reciting a no-smoking pledge together.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City said, “I hope that through this enjoyable musical performance, Galmae Elementary students will grow up healthy and happy,” and added, “We will continue to actively cooperate with schools to promote diverse and beneficial programs.”
Meanwhile, the Guri City Public Health Center has been conducting smoking and drinking cessation education since June for about 880 elementary and middle school students in the area, aiming to block early opportunities for smoking and drinking as the starting age gradually decreases and to reduce youth smoking and drinking rates.
