50 High School and University Students Gather to Set a 5-Year Youth Vision
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 28th that it held a focused idea meeting to set the vision for establishing the 2nd Basic Youth Policy Plan with about 50 young people from Geochang youth.
The 2nd Basic Youth Policy Plan is established and implemented every five years according to the "Geochang-gun Youth Basic Ordinance," outlining the basic direction, promotion goals, and major matters related to youth policy. To this end, Geochang-gun conducted a youth survey, idea contests, and collected best practices since May, and based on the drafted plan, held this focused idea meeting.
The meeting was attended by a diverse group including high school seniors, university students, youth networks, youth organizations, and Geochang-gun officials. Participants were divided into age-based subgroups and used professional facilitators to discuss and derive visions and strategies under the theme of "Geochang, the Representative Youth-Friendly City of Korea."
As a result of the discussions, teenagers proposed the agenda of "improving living environments," people in their 20s suggested "establishing youth leisure cultural infrastructure" and "enhancing transportation convenience," those in their 30s emphasized "creating smooth communication channels with youth," and those in their 40s focused on "supporting youth leisure." The meeting concluded with flying "paper airplanes carrying hopes for 2025."
One young participant said, "The process of communicating with each other, presenting ideas, and deriving tasks was very enjoyable and a very meaningful time."
Geochang-gun plans to reflect the results of this focused idea meeting to concretize the 2nd Basic Youth Policy Plan and, after review by the Youth Policy Committee, finalize an effective five-year basic plan to advance as a youth-friendly city.
