The integrated closed-circuit television (CCTV) control center operated by Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do since September last year is playing a significant role as a "guardian of residents' safety."

According to Damyang-gun on the 25th, the county operates the CCTV integrated control center on a 24-hour shift system to protect the lives and property of its residents.

The integrated control center is equipped with 823 cameras, including 491 for community crime prevention, 155 for traffic enforcement, 78 in child protection zones, and 99 for wildfire monitoring and flood management, as well as a safety emergency bell system for child protection. In particular, dedicated control personnel are secured and operated to prepare for disasters 24/7 and to ensure stable and efficient management of the control center. This has been shown to greatly assist not only in rapid response during disaster situations but also in crime prevention.

Based on this, the integrated control center provided 1,155 pieces of information last year and 1,162 so far this year to help solve investigation-related crimes. As a result, the five major crimes have steadily decreased by about 10%. Along with this, it has contributed to shortening case processing times by securing evidence for various criminal investigations and has also been active in preventing wildfires and floods.

Lee Byeong-no, the mayor of Damyang-gun, emphasized, “We will continue to systematize the control system further and expand intelligent CCTV to do our best for the safe daily lives of residents 24 hours a day.”
