Expected to be Set at 100 Million to 300 Million KRW Per Person
NCSoft has launched a voluntary retirement program as part of its management reform, offering up to 30 months' severance pay to those who opt for early retirement.
According to the gaming industry on the 23rd, NCSoft unveiled the 'Voluntary Retirement Program' on the same day. This is the first time NCSoft has implemented a voluntary retirement program in 12 years since 2012.
The company decided to provide severance pay ranging from a minimum of 20 months to a maximum of 30 months based on the length of service of the retiring employees. According to last year's business report, the average total salary per NCSoft employee was around 107 million KRW. Considering this, voluntary retirees are expected to receive severance pay of approximately 100 million to 300 million KRW.
NCSoft has been downsizing recently to improve management efficiency. On the 21st, it held an extraordinary board meeting and decided to spin off three independent game development studios and an AI research and development organization into subsidiaries through simple and physical division.
Earlier in June, the company spun off its Quality Assurance (QA) and System Integration (SI) divisions into NCQA and NCIDS, respectively.
NCSoft also announced that it would terminate or reduce some development projects and support functions as part of a selection and concentration strategy to utilize company resources efficiently. The current voluntary retirement program is part of this strategy.
An NCSoft official stated, "Through selection and concentration, we plan to create new opportunities and promote bold changes across corporate management to enhance efficiency."
