Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is set to launch a large-scale stay-type tourism and leisure complex project that combines forestry, agriculture, and livestock farming in Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu.
On the 23rd, Yongin City announced that it will begin civil engineering work next month for the 'Farm & Forest Town' project, which will be developed on a 166,635㎡ site at 224-3 Baegam-ri, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu.

This complex is a project the city has been promoting to provide citizens with a space to relax and experience nature away from the urban environment. The 74.7 billion KRW project cost will be funded entirely by the city’s own resources. The city plans to develop the complex as a stay-type tourism facility focused on leisure and experiential activities, while also introducing local specialties to visitors to stimulate the regional economy.
The complex will feature facilities such as a pet theme park, food market, Hidden Forest Village, camping site, play garden, infant forest experience center, blooming garden, healing theme road, and parking lot. In particular, the local food direct sales store and dining facilities like cafes and restaurants, which promote, exhibit, and sell regional agricultural products, will be designed to maximize the natural landscape.
The accommodation facility, 'Hidden Forest Village,' is planned to include row houses, villa types, and pet-friendly units. The pet theme park will also have lodging and camping areas. The centrally located food market will serve as a flea market, barbecue area, and food truck space during large events, and as a diverse play and experience area during regular times.
The play garden, a children’s themed play area, will feature adventure-themed play facilities, while the infant forest experience center will operate as a healing space for forest experiences and education.
The blooming garden will include a greenhouse garden, flower bed garden, and wildflower garden, and the healing theme road will be designed as a safe walking path accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
Meanwhile, the complex has emphasized eco-friendliness and energy efficiency from the planning stage. Buildings will use eco-friendly materials with high durability and insulation, and architectural plans and energy-saving techniques will be implemented to minimize energy demand. Thirty-four percent of the total energy will be supplied by renewable energy using solar power.
Water resource recycling will also be enhanced. Rainwater generated within the complex will be sent to surrounding farmland through vegetated waterways for reuse as agricultural water. Wastewater will be purified through advanced sewage treatment facilities and reused for toilets and garden irrigation. Except for the main entrance and exit roads, all paths will be paved to allow water permeability, enabling rainwater to flow into vegetated waterways and green areas. Facilities to reduce non-point source pollution will be installed to prevent water pollution.
A city official stated, "Farm & Forest Town will provide citizens and visitors to Yongin with a space to relax and heal their minds," adding, "We will strive to ensure that this stay-type leisure complex, utilizing local tourism resources, leads to the revitalization of the regional economy."
