'APT.' Likely to Be K-Pop's Biggest Hit of the Year
YG PLUS surpassed 4,000 won for the first time in over five months. As Ros?'s new song "APT." shows signs of record-breaking success, the music distribution company YG PLUS is gaining attention.
As of 9:13 a.m. on the 22nd, YG PLUS is trading at 4,000 won, up 14.94% (520 won) from the previous day. Following the previous day's limit-up, it continues its unstoppable upward momentum. The last time YG PLUS stock exceeded 4,000 won was on May 13 (intraday high of 4,020 won). It even reached an early session high of 4,195 won (20.55%).
YG PLUS is an entertainment infrastructure and intellectual property (IP) business specialist company under YG Entertainment. Its main business is album and digital music distribution. It holds exclusive distribution rights for artists under YG, HYBE, and YG’s affiliate The Black Label. In the album distribution market, it competes for the top market share with Kakao Entertainment and Dreamus Company.
Last year, Ros?, whose 7-year exclusive contract with YG expired, extended the "group exclusive contract" with YG while signing an individual exclusive contract with The Black Label. Group activities are managed by YG, and solo activities are handled by The Black Label. Recently, her new song "APT." has been achieving unprecedented global success. It is a duet with top American artist Bruno Mars. This is her first solo song in three years released through The Black Label. The addictive repetitive chorus of "APT." has even earned it the nickname "the banned song for the college entrance exam."
"APT." not only topped major domestic music platforms but also became the third K-pop song ever to reach number one on Spotify’s "Daily Top Songs USA" chart, the world’s largest music platform. The first K-pop song to top this chart was Jungkook’s "SEVEN" last year, followed by Jimin’s "Who" this year as the second. "APT." is also leading global charts, continuing its worldwide success. It is predicted to rank within the top 10 on the upcoming Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is highly likely to surpass Jimin’s "Who," which achieved the highest Hot 100 position for K-pop in 2024 at number 12. Additionally, the music video surpassed 80 million views on YouTube within just three days of its release. Expectations are also rising for Ros?’s solo full-length album "rosie," scheduled for release on December 6.
