A snack bar in Busan is attracting attention by selling food cooked on the same day as so-called ‘closing sale’ items for 10,000 won.
Recently, a post titled 'Snack Bar 10,000 Won Random Box Generosity (a highly cost-effective product worth more than its price) Challenge' was uploaded on an online community.
According to the author, Mr. A, a snack bar located in Sajik-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan, sells a menu called ‘Today’s Closing Random Food’ from 9 p.m. until closing time. Since the food cooked that day is sent ‘at the owner’s discretion,’ customers do not know what kind of food they will receive. The menu is described as ‘a menu to order trusting the owner.’

Mr. A said, "I ordered just one ‘Today’s Closing Random Food,’ and it’s very generous," and shared a photo of the food he received. For 10,000 won, the types of food Mr. A received amounted to 11 kinds: 4 fish cakes, 5 tteokbokki rice cakes, 3 dried filefish fries, 2 sweet potato fries, 5 shrimp fries, 5 squid fries, 1 skewered meat, 2 pollack pancakes, 2 donggeurangttaeng (Korean meat patties), 1 beef yukjeon (pan-fried beef), and 1 chive pancake.
Netizens responded enthusiastically with comments such as "Even just the pancakes alone would be worth more than 10,000 won," "So what’s the name of that place?" "If it’s near my house, I’d order right at 9 p.m. every day," "If it’s a closing sale, that means they sell fresh food every day," "It looks so good I’d want to pay full price," "Since tteokbokki can’t be sold later, it’s beneficial for the owner too," "30,000 won would be a small amount for this," and "It’s perfect for ordering delivery when guests come over."
Meanwhile, as high inflation continues recently, the prices of representative affordable foods such as tteokbokki and gimbap have soared, increasing the burden on consumers. According to Statistics Korea, in August, the price of tteokbokki rose 5.7% compared to a year earlier, hamburgers rose 5.5%, and chicken and gimbap prices rose 5.2%. This is more than double the overall consumer price inflation rate of 2.0% in August.
