Record Number of Entries Submitted to Daejeon Information and Culture Agency Story Contest Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency / Promotion Agency

Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced that this year’s short story and web novel contests received the highest number of submissions ever.

With the theme of “Science (Fantasy, SF),” 489 works were submitted to the web novel contest and 308 works to the short story contest. This represents an increase of about 14 times for web novels and more than twice for short stories compared to last year.

The “2024 Korea Fantasy & SF Web Novel Contest” offers a prize of 20 million KRW, awards for five works, and serialization on the Blaise platform. The short story contest offers a prize of 15 million KRW, awards for seven works, and opportunities for publication contracts.

The agency is supporting the development of the story sector by holding writer training academies and contests, enabling works selected as excellent to debut as professional writers through serialization contracts or publication with specialized platforms.

For web novels, “The Childcare Diary of a Regressed Idol” by author Jo Heaah, who completed the academy in 2022, and “The Luck of the Cursed Regressor is 999” by author Sanchae Bibimbap are currently being serialized. For short stories, an anthology of the 2023 award-winning works has been published and is on sale.

Lee Eunhak, director of the agency, said, “We will continue to make efforts from various perspectives for all writers and aspiring writers to ensure the successful development of Daejeon’s story industry.”
