Patent Application for Personal Information Management System

SK Innovation supports personal information protection tasks by enabling all entrusted partner companies to utilize the independently developed personal information management system.

On the 17th, SK Innovation announced that it has developed and filed a patent for 'WeTA,' a personal information consignment and entrustment management system based on its own security capabilities. This system has been disseminated and put into use among over 150 entrusted companies within SK Innovation's affiliated partners that handle personal information.

The revised Personal Information Protection Act, which came into effect this March, newly imposes personal information protection management obligations not only on consignors with existing management and supervision duties but also on entrusted companies. Small-scale entrusted companies have faced difficulties due to lack of expertise and considerable management costs.

SK Innovation implemented functions that allow easy management of personal information-related tasks such as contract management, destruction management, and protection measure inspections, thereby alleviating mutual burdens between consignors and entrusted companies. Additionally, through task automation, it is designed so that consignors and entrusted companies can communicate frequently via evidence management and automatic checklist notifications. SK Innovation filed a patent for 'WeTA' last April.

A representative from the entrusted company Infobank said, “With the system provided by SK Innovation, we have been able to handle tasks related to the Personal Information Protection Act in real time, significantly reducing our workload.”

An SK Innovation official stated, "Through the development and support of the personal information consignment and entrustment management system, we have been able to stably handle personal information protection tasks with partner entrusted companies and reduce management costs, promoting win-win management," adding, "We plan to expand WeTA to SK Group affiliates and continuously strengthen cooperative relationships with entrusted companies.”
