Seokchon Lake, Garak Intersection, Ogeum Park, and More: 'Songpa Eosinggil BEST 5'

Recommended Autumn Walks: ▲Seokchon Lake ▲Garaksageori ▲Ogeum Park ▲Hangaram-ro ▲Cheonma Park

October, with its clear skies and refreshing breeze, is the best time for walking. We recommend five great barefoot walking paths in Songpa-gu that come to mind when the autumn wind gently blows.

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) aims to be a "healthy city through everyday sports" and has recently created various barefoot walking trails throughout the district so that many residents can experience the trending barefoot walking exercise. So far, eight earthing paths have been established using green spaces and park trails within residential areas, and by the end of this year, a total of 11 “Songpa Earthing Paths” will be completed and opened to the public.

Autumn at its peak: ‘Seokchon Lake Barefoot Clay Path’

First, we introduce a healing walking path that satisfies both sight and touch. At ‘Songpa Naru Park’ located by Seokchon Lake, there is a 320-meter-long clay path. Last year, the district utilized part of the existing walking trail on the west side of Seokchon Lake to create this path with minimal park damage, allowing visitors to experience the clay path while overlooking the lake. Walking barefoot along the path, accompanied by the early autumn foliage and fluttering flowers, brings great happiness.

Great barefoot walking in the city: ‘Garak Intersection Earthing Path’

In May this year, an ‘Earthing Path’ was created in the green area opposite Helio City. A diverse 365-meter barefoot walking trail was constructed, including clay paths, loam paths, clay acupressure paths, and stone acupressure paths. This was part of the ‘Songpa-daero Premium Street Development Project,’ which improved the green facilities around Yangjae-daero. A total of 207 tree-form hibiscus plants were planted, along with various trees, shrubs, and flowers, transforming the area into a place where residents can enjoy greenery and relaxation in the heart of the city.

When the wind blows, think of ‘Ogeum Park Forest Healing Path’

At ‘Ogeum Park,’ you can enjoy forest bathing and barefoot walking simultaneously in a pine forest. Last year, the district preserved the natural hillside terrain and created a 110-meter clay path, adding fun with a clay ball pool that provides acupressure effects. Following the clay path leads to Ogeum Oreum Park, a scenic viewpoint in Songpa-gu. Especially at sunset, the view is spectacular. You can enjoy a barefoot walk while admiring the sunset, fully experiencing the spirit of autumn.

Choose your preference and walk: ‘Hangaram-ro Health Acupressure Path’

Located behind Jamsil Els Apartment, the ‘Hangaram-ro Health Acupressure Path’ stretches a total of 1,000 meters. It was completed last year to allow barefoot walking of varying difficulty levels, including loam paths, clay ball acupressure paths, grass waterways, and acupressure paths made of gravel and logs. It has become a new healing spot in the city, attracting many people of all ages, not just local residents.

Healing with all five senses: ‘Cheonma Park Healing Path’

A 365-meter barefoot earthing path was created in Cheonma Park, which is adjacent to Cheonmasan Mountain. The newly built ‘Healing Path’ this October is a flat forest trail where you can enjoy a barefoot walk filled with phytoncides. Inside Cheonma Park, there are attractions such as a forest healing center, a healing forest for toddlers, and an ecological learning center that restored habitats for green tree frogs and five-colored woodpeckers in a previously neglected forest. It is highly recommended for families to visit and fully enjoy nature together.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Through Songpa-gu’s ‘Earthing Paths’ that are great for barefoot walking, we hope residents can enjoy a healthier and happier life in the city.” He added, “As the autumn leaves begin to change color, we recommend taking a healing walk feeling nature at your feet on the diverse earthing paths in Songpa-gu without having to travel far.”
