Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it has renewed the term of Lee Hak-ju (60), the president of the Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency, whose term expired on the 6th. Accordingly, President Lee's term has been extended for two years until October 2006.

The Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency was established in February 2022 with the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of local companies in Pyeongtaek and promoting industrial advancement by formulating innovative strategies and creating a foundation for a sustainable industrial ecosystem. The president is appointed by the mayor following a resolution by the board of directors.
The city explained that this reappointment decision was made to solidify the stable foundation of the newly established promotion agency and to ensure the continuity of ongoing projects. The city also added that President Lee received high evaluations for his achievements during his previous term and his future vision.
President Lee graduated from Inha University with a degree in Computer Engineering, earned a master's degree from the same university's graduate school, and obtained a doctorate in Electronic Engineering from Korea Polytechnic University. He has served as the director of the Corporate Informatization Support Center, executive director at Korea First Tech, and CEO of the Bucheon Industrial Promotion Foundation, and has been leading the Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency since October 2022.
He is particularly recognized for supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises through five policy research projects, including the "Pyeongtaek Semiconductor Growth Engine Promotion Team," and seven corporate support projects such as the "Future Automotive Parts Industry Advancement Project" this year. He has also promoted innovative policies to create a startup ecosystem, laying the foundation for the growth of local companies.
President Lee stated, "Going forward, I will achieve sustainable growth through innovative corporate support and the creation of industrial clusters tailored to Pyeongtaek."
