Seo Jeong-su, Seocho District Mayor, Holds Wedding for Park Kang-su, Mapo District Mayor's Daughter in Another Seoul Area to Avoid Burdening Residents, Receiving Positive Feedback
Jeon Seong-su, the mayor of Seocho District, and Park Kang-su, the mayor of Mapo District, have received positive evaluations for holding their children's wedding ceremonies at wedding halls located outside their own districts.
On the morning of the 12th, former Seocho District Mayor Jeon held his daughter's wedding at a wedding hall in Jongno. Despite the fact that there are many famous wedding halls not only in Seocho but also in the nearby Gangnam District, he deliberately chose a wedding hall in Jongno District.
This appears to be because if the wedding were known to local residents, residents who have even once met the mayor could attend the ceremony, so the wedding was held in a place far from the district.

In particular, the former mayor is known to have prepared by requesting in advance that the wedding not be announced to local residents. A Seocho District official said, “The mayor repeatedly asked not to publicize the child's wedding.”
Nevertheless, politicians and activists such as Shin Dong-wook, local member of the National Assembly, Choi Ho-jung, chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, Lee Sook-ja, chairwoman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Steering Committee, and Go Seon-jae, chairman of the Seocho District Council, attended to offer congratulations.
Also attending were Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Dongdaemun District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung, Jung District Mayor Kim Gil-seong, as well as former Seoul Mayor Woo Myung-gyu, former Seoul Deputy Mayors Choi Chang-sik, Kwon Young-gyu, Jin Hee-seon, and Kang Tae-woong, former Vice Minister of Knowledge Economy Park Young-jun, former Seoul Metropolitan Council Secretary-General Jang Kyung-hwan, former Seoul City Urban Transportation Headquarters Director Go Hong-seok, Seoul Transportation Corporation President Baek Ho, former Waterworks Headquarters Director Yoo Yeon-sik, former Gwanak District Deputy Mayor Yoo Jae-ryong, and current and former Seoul city officials including Welfare Director Jeong Sang-hoon, all of whom had connections with the former mayor during their service in Seoul city government.

However, Choi Ho-kwon, mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, Park Kang-su, mayor of Mapo District, and Oh Eon-seok, mayor of Dobong District, who are close to the former mayor, were unable to attend due to many scheduled events such as local festivals, but they called in advance to offer congratulations.
Earlier, on the 6th, Park Kang-su, mayor of Mapo District, also held his daughter's wedding at a wedding hall in Yeouido.
Mayor Park set the condition for his daughter that the wedding ceremony must never be held in Mapo District. He also repeatedly requested that the wedding ceremony not be announced to local residents. He instructed staff not to attend. As a result, even attending journalists hesitated to go to the wedding. This was interpreted as an intention not to cause any burden.
However, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, local National Assembly member Jo Jeong-hoon, National Assembly members Kim Eun-hye and Kim Jae-seop, Seocho District Mayor Jeon Seong-su, Jung District Mayor Kim Gil-seong, Dobong District Mayor Oh Eon-seok, as well as singer Seo Yoo-seok, who has a close relationship with Mayor Park, and other entertainers attended.
In particular, Mayor Park is a district mayor with a broad local base, having led the relocation of the Mapo thermal power plant and engaged in social activities in the area for a long time, as well as running a media company. For this reason, many local organization leaders also attended to celebrate.
As such, district mayors are local politicians representing their areas, meeting dozens to hundreds of civil petitioners daily or thousands to tens of thousands of residents during local festivals.
If such a mayor publicly announces their child's wedding, residents at the level of community leaders or higher could attend. Several years ago, when a district mayor held a wedding in the district, a huge number of local residents attended.
For this reason, it is known that Seocho District Mayor Jeon Seong-su and Mapo District Mayor Park Kang-su quietly held their children's weddings in locations outside their own district wedding halls.
An official commented, “If a district mayor holds their child's wedding in the district, it could be a burden to local residents, so holding it in another district seems to be a very conscientious act deeply considering the residents.”
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended as a guest at the wedding of Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, on the afternoon of the 6th and responded to residents' requests for commemorative photos.
