As South Korea's medical community faces unprecedented challenges, the AI chatbot service by Makebot (CEO Jiwoong Kim), previously introduced by Gangnam Severance Hospital and others, is gaining renewed attention for enhancing the efficiency of medical services.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 6th, the overall attendance rate of residents at 211 training hospitals nationwide was only 8.7% (1,178 out of 13,531 as of September 30). This has led to a more than 50% decrease in surgery reservations at major national university hospitals compared to the previous year, and the overcrowding of emergency rooms has intensified, raising public concern and interest in hospital reservations.

Amid this situation, Makebot's AI chatbot is drawing attention for dramatically improving the efficiency of medical services. Makebot is leading digital innovation in medical settings through extensive integration with dozens of domestic EMR (Electronic Medical Record) companies.

Makebot's AI chatbot has developed advanced API integration technology to ensure compatibility with various EMR systems. This allows medical institutions of all sizes, from large university hospitals to local clinics, to easily adopt the AI chatbot without major changes to their existing EMR systems.

Notably, Makebot's AI chatbot is linked in real-time with each medical institution's EMR system. This enables the AI chatbot to check patients' reservation information, appointment schedules, and waiting status in real time, allowing for more accurate and efficient appointment management. Additionally, strong security protocols are applied to safely handle sensitive personal information.

With the introduction of the EMR-integrated AI chatbot, medical institutions enjoy various benefits in appointment management and administrative tasks. Patients can check and change their appointments 24/7, and simple inquiries such as waiting time notifications or preparation instructions can be easily resolved. Medical staff can manage appointment schedules more efficiently through the optimized reservation system managed by the AI chatbot. Furthermore, administrative staff experience a significant reduction in workload as the AI chatbot automatically handles repetitive reservation inquiries and basic administrative tasks. This allows hospital resources to focus on more critical tasks, leading to an overall improvement in the quality of medical services.

In particular, Makebot's KakaoTalk-based hospital reservation solution, ‘MakebotH,’ is very popular among patients. It boasts a reuse rate exceeding 90%, recognized for its convenience and efficiency, and currently processes over 100,000 hospital reservations per month. This is a clear indicator of the practical convenience felt by patients and the performance of Makebot's AI chatbot.

Since first developing the AI chatbot with Makebot in 2021, Gangnam Severance Hospital has continuously enhanced the service amid high interest and positive responses. Through integration with the hospital's EMR system, effective real-time patient distribution and reservation are possible, and by replacing simple Q&A consultations with AI, both patient convenience and staff work efficiency have greatly improved. Another advantage is that continuous patient management is possible within the user-friendly KakaoTalk interface with just a one-time PASS authentication.

Additionally, Makebot recently developed and is providing a rapid decision-making platform for effective transfer management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular emergency patients in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital. Recently, by incorporating the latest large language model (LLM) technology, Makebot is building a next-generation generative AI platform to promote efficient resource management and patient convenience in the medical field. This AI utilization enables intelligent patient classification, customized medical questionnaires, priority response to emergency situations, and AI automation, significantly reducing medical staff workload and helping patients receive appropriate care promptly.

Makebot is accelerating the construction of medical AI systems through collaborations with leading domestic medical institutions such as Seoul National University Hospital, Gangnam Severance Hospital, Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital, and the Red Cross Hospital, as well as major network clinics like Tox & Fill, Maypure, U& I Clinic, and local hospitals and clinics.

In this way, amid medical crises and rapid changes in the healthcare environment, not only increasing medical personnel but also the development and utilization of various AI technologies are expected to be key topics in overcoming the current medical crisis and significantly improving the efficiency and accessibility of Korea's healthcare system.

Makebot CEO Jiwoong Kim stated, “Proper resource management and utilization in medical settings are directly linked to patient convenience and lives,” adding, “We will strive to improve medical environments based on AI technology and experience accumulated across various industries.”
