Emergency Reporting Function Linked with 'Ansim-i App' Included
"In Daechi 4-dong, where smart security lights were installed last year, the number of five major crimes decreased by 16%, from 709 cases to 591 cases. In particular, robbery and rape/sexual assault crimes each dropped by more than 40%. The total number of 112 emergency calls decreased by 24%, noise complaints by 48.9%, juvenile delinquency by 34.5%, and disturbances by 23.7%." (2024 Crime Vulnerable Area Analysis, Gangnam-gu)
Seoul Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seongmyeong) announced on the 11th that it is making efforts to create safe routes home by operating a total of 2,496 smart security lights, adding 1,194 new units this year in five neighborhoods.
The areas where smart security lights were installed this year are ▲ Gaepo 4-dong (residential area around Gugak High School, 484 units) ▲ Dogok 1-dong (residential area around Eunkwang Girls' High School, 141 units) ▲ Segok-dong (Jaenggol Village, 41 units) ▲ Samsung 2-dong (residential area around Seonjeongneung Station to Samsung Jungang Station, 268 units) ▲ Yeoksam 1-dong (Teheran-ro 6-gil and 14-gil area, 260 units). The district has steadily expanded safety infrastructure in daily life by installing 510 units in Nonhyeon 1-dong residential area in 2022, 529 units in Daechi-dong (residential area around Seolleung Station to Hanti Station) in 2023, and 263 units in Yeoksam 1-dong (residential area around Seolleung Station to Seonjeongneung Station).
Smart security lights use IoT (Internet of Things)-based short-range wireless communication technology and operate in connection with Seoul's 'Ansim-i App.' When a user turns on the Ansim-i App and presses a button or shakes their phone, the emergency reporting function is activated, instantly sending the danger situation and location information to the control center. At this time, the smart security lights flash immediately to alert the surroundings of the crisis and assist the police in rapid dispatch.
Additionally, malfunctioning security lights can be checked and repaired in real time, maintaining brightly lit alleys at all times. The district actively promoted the usage by cooperating with police stations to guide residents on the installation areas and demonstrate the functions of the smart security lights.
Meanwhile, the number of Ansim-i App users in Gangnam-gu has reached a cumulative total of 8,652, and this year, a total of 929 services, including monitoring for safe return home, were provided.
District Mayor Jo Seongmyeong stated, "We replaced security lights in narrow and dark alleys of residential areas with smart security lights to create safe routes home," and added, "We will continue to expand safety infrastructure using smart technology."
