Anseong City announced on the 10th that it completed the 'Anseong City Geumbuk Jeongmaek National Ecological and Cultural Trail Construction Project,' which has been promoted since 2020 to connect the Geumbuk Jeongmaek Ecological Forest Trail, access roads, and Geumgwang Lake, earlier this month and held a completion ceremony on the 8th.

This project was promoted through a consignment agreement with the Korea National Park Service, a public institution under the Ministry of Environment. Accordingly, the Park Service carried out all phases of the project, from establishing the basic plan to design, construction, and operation management. The city explained that although the Korea National Park Service has previously been entrusted with parts of the 'National Ecological Trail Construction Project,' this is the first time it has been entrusted with and executed the entire project.

The project was divided into three phases: ▲Ecological trail maintenance work ▲Construction of the exploration information center ▲Construction of the Geumgwang Lake Sky Observatory and Sky Trail.

In particular, the Sky Observatory and Sky Trail, which are linked with Geumbuk Jeongmaek and offer panoramic views of the natural scenery of Geumgwang Lake and the Geumbuk Jeongmaek ridge section, are becoming a new tourist attraction. The Sky Observatory and Sky Trail, consisting of a 25-meter-high and 167-meter-long structure, provide a panoramic view of Geumgwang Lake and Geumbuk Jeongmaek. The exploration information center, which serves as a base for Geumbuk Jeongmaek exploration, provides information on exploration courses within the Anseong City Geumbuk Jeongmaek section and natural, historical, and cultural resources along the exploration routes.

Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, said, "With this completion, visitors can more easily enjoy the beautiful natural environment of the Anseong City Geumbuk Jeongmaek National Ecological Trail and walk through its brilliant history and culture," adding, "We expect the Anseong City Geumbuk Jeongmaek National Ecological and Cultural Trail to stand tall as the best exploration infrastructure in the metropolitan area."

The Hannam-Geumbuk Jeongmaek, which starts from Sogrisan in Baekdudaegan, splits into Geumbuk and Hannam at Chiljangsan in Anseong City and ends its mountain range at Jiryeongsan on the Taean Peninsula. The total length is about 240 km. To the northwest, it encompasses the Anseongcheon and Sapgyocheon rivers, and along the long southern slope flows the Geum River.
