1,000 Red Snow Crabs Offered for Free

The '2024 Marine Fisheries Expo,' the largest comprehensive marine, tourism, and seafood expo in the East Sea Rim region, will be held at EXCO in Daegu from the 11th to the 13th. Hosted by North Gyeongsang Province, the Marine Fisheries Expo was first introduced at EXCO in 2022 as an expo in the marine and fisheries sector, aiming to promote the establishment of an integrated platform for revitalizing the fisheries industry in the East Sea Rim, as well as to boost seafood consumption and trade. This year marks its third edition.

This year’s expo will feature 150 companies across 350 booths, covering seafood and processed foods, fisheries equipment, and marine and leisure tourism. Visitors can experience a variety of attractions in one place, including marine and fisheries content, promotional halls for five cities and counties in North Gyeongsang Province, and an ornamental fish exhibition. National marine and fisheries institutions such as the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, the National Marine Science Museum, the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage, the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency, and the East Sea Rim Industry Research Institute will also participate to provide global and domestic marine and fisheries information.

150 Leisure, Tourism, and Fisheries Companies Join Daegu EXCO 'Marine Fisheries Expo'... Major Retailers Hold One-on-One Purchase Consultations At last year's Marine Fisheries Expo, visitors lined up waiting to receive free red snow crabs.

In particular, to enhance the marketing and domestic sales of outstanding technologies and products from local marine and fisheries SMEs, a one-on-one business matching consultation will be held between major domestic distributors (Coupang, Lotte Mart, 11st, NS Home Shopping, etc.) and participating companies. This is expected to provide opportunities to secure sales channels for local seafood products.

A variety of side events are also planned. The Gyeongbuk Seafood Cooking Class, held daily from the 11th to the 13th, will offer hands-on cooking experiences using Gyeongbuk seafood and processed products, and introduce the latest trends and technologies in seafood cuisine to match changing consumer preferences.

At the Gyeongbuk Province Aqua Pet (ornamental fish) exhibition hall, there will be a free ornamental fish giveaway event, and a Red Snow Crab Stamp Tour event will offer 1,000 premium red snow crabs free of charge each day. Additionally, visitors can enjoy marine leisure experiences such as riding yachts and patrol boats, and visit the special Dokdo Hall to view a Dokdo photo exhibition. Visitors to the expo will also receive a 5,000 KRW discount coupon (limited to 10,000 coupons, maximum two per person), making purchases and viewing more affordable.

The 2024 Marine Fisheries Expo will be held in Halls 4 and 5 of the EXCO East Exhibition Center, with opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the last day, the 13th, the expo closes at 5 p.m. During the expo, the 2024 Daegu Contents Fair, where visitors can discover the latest trends in the cultural content industry, will be held concurrently in Hall 1 of the EXCO West Exhibition Center.
