Luke Donald (England), captain of the European Union team, and Keegan Bradley, captain of the U.S. team, expressed a positive stance on selecting LIV Golf players at a press conference held on the 8th (local time), one year before the opening of the 2025 Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is a men's golf competition between the U.S. team and the European Union team. The tournament will take place in New York, USA, next September.

Captain Donald said, "If they meet the regulations and rules of the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour), they will be eligible to participate," adding, "Many players competing in LIV Golf are qualified." Captain Bradley also said, "We will select the top 12 players. If there are such players among LIV Golf players, we will select anyone."

LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), operates its own golf tour backed by enormous financial power. It has been in conflict with existing professional golf organizations such as the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have restricted LIV Golf players from participating in their tournaments, effectively blocking LIV Golf players from participating in the Ryder Cup.

Among LIV Golf players, Brooks Koepka (USA) is the only player who has participated in the Ryder Cup. He is a 'major hunter' who has won five major golf tournaments. Koepka was a member of the PGA of America until 2024, so he was able to participate in the 2023 Ryder Cup as a captain's pick.
