Assemblyman Lee Jeongheon "Cleverly Reducing Membership Benefits"
SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, the three major mobile carriers, have expressed their intention to expand subscriber membership benefits.
On the 8th, at the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee’s audit, Lee Jeong-heon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized, "Mobile carrier membership benefits are being subtly reduced," and pointed out that "benefits such as movie tickets and supermarket discounts have been cut," questioning each company’s policy.
First, Kim Young-seop, CEO of KT, responded, "KT operates a points system," and added, "We will carefully compare and review various issues and the perceptions of customers from other carriers to implement innovative measures."
Jung Soo-heon, Head of Consumer Division at LG Uplus, stated, "What we consider most strategically important is customer experience," and explained, "We have continuously increased benefits for membership and long-term customers, and the total amount this year has increased compared to last year, and this trend will continue."
Regarding SK Telecom, the lawmaker pointed out, "There are cases where VIP Plus benefits, such as Daiso gift certificates, suddenly disappear."
In response, Lim Bong-ho, Head of SKT Customer Business Division, said, "We have been continuously expanding membership partners to 164 recently to enhance benefits," and added, "We will strive to ensure that membership benefits are practically expanded."
