Dong-A University Department of Taekwondo Promotes Taekwondo in Dubai and Other Locations

'Eurasia Urban Diplomacy Delegation' Promotion Booths and Demonstration Performances from Central Asia to Dubai

Dong-A University announced on the 8th that its Department of Taekwondo and Taekwondo Demonstration Team participated in the Busan 'Eurasia City Diplomacy Delegation,' promoting Taekwondo and engaging in various activities in Central Asia.

President Lee Haewoo of Dong-A University, Alumni Association President Shin Jungtaek (Chairman of Sewoon Steel), Professors Lee Yongguk and Lee Sangho from the Department of Taekwondo, and the Taekwondo Demonstration Team recently promoted the 'Busan Festa' through Central Asia and all the way to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This program was part of the 'Eurasia City Diplomacy Delegation' activities, which involved Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Global City Foundation, Dong-A University, and eight other universities in the Busan area.

The Dong-A University Taekwondo Demonstration Team operated Taekwondo promotion booths and held busking performances to promote Busan, starting from Tashkent on the 23rd of last month and continuing to Dubai on the 1st.

At the promotion booths, visitors could experience wearing a dobok, candle-blowing, and board-breaking, while the Taekwondo busking featured creative poomsae and Taekwondo aerobics set to K-pop, drawing much attention.

The Eurasia City Diplomacy Delegation, including Dong-A University, worked to raise local students' interest in studying in Busan and carried out youth diplomacy activities.

In particular, the team received a great response with a spectacular demonstration performance at the 'Busan is good for you Busan Festa Opening Ceremony' held in Dubai.

Professor Lee Sangho said, "It was meaningful to participate in activities to attract international students to Busan," and added, "I hope this will contribute to the development of local universities, including Dong-A University, which was selected as a glocal university, as well as the settlement of outstanding foreign talent and revitalization of the local economy."
