Netizens are outraged over a story about a self-employed person who fell victim to a food payment transfer scam.


On the 6th, a post titled "I was scammed with a food payment account transfer. 10 won deposit" was uploaded to the self-employed community 'Apeunikka Sajangida' (Because It Hurts, I'm the Boss). The author, Mr. A, revealed the damage, saying, "While running a restaurant, I have experienced a few dine-and-dash cases, but this time the food cost was 70,000 won, and they deposited only 10 won and left," adding, "My employee clearly showed me on their phone that 70,000 won was confirmed deposited, and they said 70,000 won was recorded."

He continued, "It is unforgivable that three men in their early 20s deceived people together," and said, "Until now, I overlooked dine-and-dash cases thinking they might have forgotten or it might be difficult if someone came alone and left without paying, but this time, the more I think about it, the more unforgivable it is. I have already filed a police report." It was also reported that the dine-and-dash group asked the employee, "Can you check the account transfer immediately?" and the employee replied, "No."


Mr. A said, "Depositing 10 won via account transfer seems to show they are not afraid of legal punishment," and added, "I want to give them a just punishment beyond legal penalties. I have CCTV footage and the real-name account transfer details." He also attached the transaction history showing the '10 won' deposit and urged, "I hope others carefully check whether the deposit has been made after an account transfer."

Netizens responded to the story with comments such as, "Often, the amount is shown before pressing the send button after entering 70,000 won," "You need to confirm the screen showing the deposit is complete after sending," "They deliberately made a mistake with the amount to create an escape route," "If caught, they will probably excuse it as a morning transfer," and "Make sure to teach them a lesson."


Meanwhile, under the current Minor Offenses Punishment Act, if someone eats food sold by another person and fails to pay the proper price without justifiable reason, they can be punished with a fine, detention, or penalty not exceeding 100,000 won. Furthermore, if intent is proven, fraud charges can be applied, resulting in imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine not exceeding 20 million won.
