Kim Bong-sik, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated at a regular press briefing on the 7th, "We have received a total of 186 cases related to deepfake incidents, and are investigating 136 of them," adding, "Among the 84 identified suspects, 59 are teenagers, accounting for 70.2% of the total."

Commissioner Kim added, "We have requested international criminal judicial cooperation for collaboration with France," and noted, "Since the procedure goes through the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is expected to take some time." Earlier, on August 28, the police had initiated a pre-investigation into Telegram on charges of aiding and abetting deepfake sex crimes.

Additionally, the police explained that they have newly booked a broker employee who arranged patients in connection with the '36-week fetus pregnancy termination (abortion)' case and are currently investigating.

Commissioner Kim said, "We have newly booked a subordinate employee working under the broker, and are currently investigating a total of nine people, including six medical staff, one YouTuber, and two patient-arranging brokers," adding, "We have received advisory responses from medical experts, including obstetricians and gynecologists, and are conducting a comprehensive analysis along with related testimonies and seized evidence."

Earlier, at the end of June, a woman posted a video on a YouTube channel claiming she underwent an abortion procedure at 36 weeks of pregnancy, which sparked controversy.
