Partial Fulfillment Even After Divorce Recognition
Professional baseball infielder Hwang Jae-gyun (37) of the KT Wiz and former girl group T-ara member Ji-yeon (31) have opened up about their divorce after two years and are both continuing with their scheduled activities.
On the 5th, Ji-yeon released a statement through her legal representative, saying, "We have mutually agreed to proceed with mediation for divorce," and added, "We ask for your understanding for not making a prompt statement. We will strive to greet you with a better image in the future." Ji-yeon's legal representative stated that the two agreed to divorce after a period of separation due to unresolved conflicts. Currently, a divorce mediation application has been submitted to the Seoul Family Court.
Hwang Jae-gyun said, "First of all, I apologize for delivering such unfortunate news to many fans," and continued, "Ji-yeon and I have agreed to divorce after much consideration and a period of separation due to personality differences. We have already submitted a divorce mediation application to the Seoul Family Court and plan to conclude the process amicably through mediation."
Ji-yeon will continue with her scheduled activities even after announcing the divorce. On the 6th, she will meet fans at a T-ara 15th anniversary fan meeting in Macau. Although T-ara halted activities after their full-group album 'Re:T-ARA' in 2021, they reunited this year to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Accordingly, Ji-yeon, along with Ham Eun-jung, Hyomin, and Qri?who were part of the last lineup?will appear as a four-member T-ara to meet fans.
Hwang Jae-gyun is also active as an infielder for the KT Wiz. On the 5th, the day the divorce was made official, he participated in the first game of the '2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO Postseason' playoff series. That day, the KT Wiz defeated the LG Twins 3-2, securing a victory in the first game. The second game of the playoff series between KT Wiz and LG Twins will be held at 2 p.m. on the 6th at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
The couple announced their marriage on February 10, 2022, and held their wedding ceremony on December 10 at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Although they denied multiple divorce rumors in the past, it was eventually revealed to be true. After the divorce announcement, Ji-yeon deleted all couple photos with Hwang Jae-gyun from her Instagram. She also removed all videos featuring Hwang Jae-gyun from her YouTube channel. The most recent videos left are only the T-ara 15th anniversary fan meeting and a Jeju Island travel video. Hwang Jae-gyun deleted his Instagram account.
